Toddlers at Disney - Dining

Updated: Jul 21, 2021

How many times do you go out to eat and have the kids say they only want to eat chicken nuggets or mac n cheese? I know our older daughter went through a phase where she only ate mac n cheese anytime we left the house. So what about dining at Disney?

Toddler Meals are available at: French Market in New Orleans Square, Rancho del Zocalo in Frontierland, Pluto's Dog House in Mickey's Toontown, and Galactic Grill in Tomorrowland.

Disney Check Kids Meals are part of a program to ensure that kids are getting their full nutritional needs. These meals are considered complete for children, with an entrée, at least one side, a dessert and either milk or water.

These are available at: the Plaza Inn and the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe in Main Street USA, the French Market in New Orleans Square, The Golden Horseshoe in Frontierland, the Red Rose Taverne in Fantasyland, Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo in Galaxy's Edge, the Hungry Bear Restaurant in Critter Country and the Galactic Grill in Tomorrowland.

We have walked all over the park trying to find a restaurant that my daughter and I could agree on. So here is your quick reference guide to dining at the Disneyland park.

Main Street USA

Main Street USA is mostly just snack options but when you are at Disney, isn't that all you want to eat anyway?

  • Carnation Cafe is a table service restaurant located towards the middle of Main Street on the left hand side. Here for breakfast, the kiddos can get those famous Mickey-shaped waffles for $8, with two sides and a milk or water. Lunch and dinner options, they can choose from hamburgers, chicken, salad, mac n cheese, and PB&J, with fries, mashed potatoes, fruit or broccoli, with all meals between $8 and $10. Finish it off with a Hot Fudge Sundae and your kid's bound to be full all day! Adult prices are $15 and under for breakfast and between $15 and $35 for lunch or dinner. Allergy-free menus are available upon request.

  • Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor is located next door to the Carnation and offers the finest ice cream creations, like sundaes, floats, hand-scooped cups and cones. It is a quick service location. It is listed in the low price category($15 or less per person).

  • Jolly Holiday is a quick service bakery themed after Mary Poppins, offering macaroons, muffins, croissants and cookies, as well as a couple breakfast items(only until 10:30am) and sandwich options on various breads. This shop is at the end of Main Street headed towards Adventureland.

  • Market House is a quick service location that is essentially Starbucks. It is located about halfway down Main Street and it is listed in the low price category($15 or less per person).

  • Plaza Inn is located at the end of Main Street, on the way to Tomorrowland. They offer quick service options, table service and a character breakfast. There isn't much listed as "kid-meals" but it is buffet-style and has a wide range of food options to choose from. The buffet generally runs between $15 and $35 a person. There is also a dining package available for this restaurant that is $40/adult and $25/child. The kid's meal is chicken tenders, mashed potatoes and applesauce/baby carrots. You also get a dessert and a voucher for a reserved viewing area for the "Magic Happens" parade.

Adventureland

Adventureland is pretty small and really doesn't offer a whole lot in regards to food options for kiddos.

  • Bengal Barbecue is a quick service location across the walkway from Indiana Jones Adventure that offers skewers/kabobs and spring rolls. It is listed in the low price category($15 or less per person). Skewers run from $5 to $7 each, and there are vegetarian options in the way of breadsticks and hummus.

  • Tiki Juice Bar is right outside the Enchanted Tiki Room and offers the Dole pineapple whip that we all know and love. They also offer pineapple juice and soft serve. It is listed in the low price category($15 or less per person).

  • The Tropical Hideaway is a quick service vegetarian location offering exotic snacks like bao, lumpia and mochi. They also have server Dole whip options. It is listed in the low price category($15 or less per person).

New Orleans Square

New Orleans Square, much like the city it embodies, has a wide variety of food options and experiences. However, the fare might be more suited to older children or adults.

  • Blue Bayou Restaurant is a specialty themed dining experience, located just inside the New Orleans shopping district. What's special about this restaurant is that you will be dining inside the Pirates of the Caribbean. I wouldn't recommend this location for children because in addition to being one of the most expensive meals in Disneyland, it also doesn't cater well to the palate of a child. However, the Fantasmic! dining package will give you a 3-course meal and a reserved viewing for Fantasmic! Lunch will cost $62/adult and $29/child and dinner is $75/adult and $30/child.

  • Cafe Orleans is a table service location, specializing in Cajun and Creole food options. Sitting right on the waterfront of the Rivers of America, it is a beautiful spot to enjoy watching the Mark Twain or Columbia glide by. This is a lunch and dinner location, featuring chicken, beef, shrimp or fish, with the option of mac n cheese, all under $15. For the adults, I highly recommend the Monte Cristo, and Mickey Beignets, classic options that are both elegant and delicious.

  • French Market Restaurant is the quick service restaurant closest to the Haunted Mansion attraction and also features Cajun and Creole style food. Another cool feature is the patio sometimes features live music. Kid's Meal options include Pasta in Marinara Sauce, Chicken Breast with Rice, or Mac n Cheese for $7-8. There is a Toddler option for $5 that is Mac n Cheese with applesauce and milk.

  • Mint Julep Bar is a quick service walk-up window that offers Mickey beignets and soft drinks as well as the famous Mint Julep. It is listed in the low price category($15 or less per person).

  • Royal Street Veranda is a personal favorite of mine because the portion size can usually fill two people's stomachs. This quick-service walk-up window offers delicious sourdough bread bowls filled with your choice of clam chowder, steak gumbo or vegetarian gumbo. Add a Coca-Cola Fountain drink and you have a meal for two for $15!

Critter Country

Critter Country is not terribly big and, therefore, not terribly full of options. The land consists of two rides, one restaurant, one food booth and one store.

  • Hungry Bear Restaurant is located just around the corner from Splash Mountain and it is the only true restaurant in Critter Country. It features hot dogs, hamburgers, mac n cheese and has allergy free options. It is listed in the low price category($15 or less per person). The special thing about the Hungry Bear is the Fantasmic! On-the-go dining package. For $30/adult and $20/child, you get the choice of Southern comfort foods and a voucher for the reserved seating to Fantasmic!

  • Harbour Galley is located across from the exit for the Haunted Mansion and is a quick service option offering some savory seafood selections as well as classic sourdough bread bowls filled with your choice of clam chowder, cheddar broccoli, or a seasonal offering. It is listed in the low price category($15 or less per person).

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

  • Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo is a quick service restaurant located . The Kid's Meal options are called the Bright Suns Youngling Breakfast($6.99, scrambled egg, potato, fruit and milk), Fried Chicken Tip-Yip Youngling Meal($9.99, crispy chicken, mac n cheese and seasonal veggies), as well as two Vegetarian options: Takodana Veggie Dippers($8.49) and Ithorian Garden Patty Bun($9.99). It is listed in the low price category($15 or less per adult).

  • Kat Saka's Kettle is a quick-service specialty popcorn stand run by grain merchant Kat Saka, offering guests a unique taste of Batuu. Great for a quick snack and beverage, your kiddos will love the multicolored kettle corn. It is listed in the low price category($15 or less per person).

  • Milk Stand is a quick service stall where you can finally try that infamous blue or green milk that you see Luke Skywalker partaking in during Episodes 4 and 6. (It really is milk! Served frosty!)

  • Oga's Cantina is one of the few places in Disneyland where you can get an alcoholic beverage(only with proper ID!) but there are plenty of concoctions to make the stop worthwhile. Blue milk, coffee and teas, cinnamon rolls and oats for breakfast, juices, powerade mixes, alcohol and cheese samplers for lunch and dinner. As the name suggests, this place is probably better suited for adults, but the kiddos might enjoy a Hyperdrive(Powerade-based) or Blurrgfire(Lemonade-based) and feel like adults for a spell. The average drink is about the $15 range, with some exceptions.

  • Ronto Roasters is a quick service stall where you can partake in the delicious grilled meat that you smell wafting in the air. They don't have anything specific to kids, but their options are normal breakfast and lunch wraps and can be enjoyed by all ages. It is listed in the low price category($15 or less per person).

Frontierland

Moving back towards Frontierland, there is a wide variety of food available for your dining pleasure.

  • The Golden Horseshoe is in one of the oldest buildings in the park. Once a stage show, it is now just a frontier-style eatery where your tiny trailblazer can enjoy a chicken slider meal or a Power Pack(a sampler of healthy snacks). Ice cream desserts and ice cream floats can finish up the meal for your tots, recharged and ready to hit the park once more. It is listed in the low price category($15 or less per person).

  • Stage Door Cafe is the quick service option where you can get most of the same options you would at the Golden Horseshoe restaurant. There are some tables nearby that you can get your food and sit down to enjoy it. Again, it is listed in the low price category($15 or less per person).

  • Rancho del Zocalo Restaurante is a quick service Mexican food location, right next to Big Thunder Mountain, with designated tables to sit at. Kid's Meals are a choice between a bean and cheese burrito and a chicken taco for $8, and toddler meals are a choice between chicken and rice or beans and rice for $4.49. For adults, it is listed in the low price category($15 or less per person). Allergy free menus are available upon request.

  • River Belle Terrace is a casual dining location located right off the waterfront of the Rivers of America. This table service dining will delight you with Southern comfort foods while you watch the Mark Twain and Columbia glide by. Breakfast meal options for the kiddos is a choice between oatmeal($10) and pancakes($8). Lunch and dinner meals are a create-your-own experience with choices like chicken, tofu, mac n cheese, fish and BBQ ribs, running between $9-12. Adult prices run between $20 and $30, with many options to choose from. Like the Blue Bayou, this location offers a Fantasmic! dining package that includes a 3 course meal and a voucher for the reserved viewing of the show. Lunch and dinner prices are the same: $45 per adult and $25 per child.

Fantasyland

Heading into the magical realm of Disney's imagination, there is little room in this land for much more than delicious snacks.

  • Edelweiss Snacks is a quick service location featuring quick eats like a turkey leg($11.99), corn on the cob($4.79) or a chimichanga($6.99). You can also get beverages and chips.

  • Maurice's Treats is a quick service cart that features snacks like a cheddar garlic bagel twist($5.29), specialty sandwich($7.49) and a variety of donut and cake options under $14.99. The Boysen Apple Freeze($5.49) is particularly delightful on a hot summer day, just don't drink it too fast!

  • Red Rose Taverne is a quick service location that requests you be their guest for lunch or dinner as they serve up some American classics with a French flair. Burgers(Classic 1/3lb Angus Cheeseburger $11.99), salads(with or without chicken $10.49/$9.49) and chicken nuggets($10.99) top the menu. They do have Disney Check Meals here: a Power Pack($5.99) or a Hamburger($7.99). They have allergy free menus available as well.

  • Troubadour Tavern is another quick service location, right outside of the theatre by Mickey's Toontown. Here you can pick up some snack items like a bratwurst sausage($9.29), or a stuffed baked potato($7.49, with chicken $8.49). You could also pick up a refreshing beverage, or a Disney Check Power Pack.

Mickey's Toontown

Mickey's Toontown is a haven for the younger Cast Members in your party, featuring the houses and lifestyles of all their favorite classic Disney friends.

  • Clarabelle's is a quick service lunch and dinner location that specializes in, you guessed it, milk based desserts. Ice cream, frozen yogurt, sundaes and more, Clarabelle's is moo-arvelous.

  • Daisy's Diner is a quick service lunch and dinner location that really only offers two things: pizza and salad. Nothing wrong with that but if that's not what you are looking for, you don't have to bother with standing in line.

  • Pluto's Dog House, continuing with the obvious, is a quick service lunch and dinner location serving up hot dogs. You can also get a turkey dog or a turkey sandwich. And four our toddlers, we have Macaroni with Applesauce and Milk($4.49).

Tomorrowland

Making our way back to the last stop on the Disney journey, we have galactic eats at Tomorrowland.

  • Alien Pizza Planet is a quick service lunch and dinner restaurant featuring pastas, pizzas and salads. We have Space-getti and Meatballs($7.99), Kid-size Cheese Pizza($6.99) and Yummy Cheesy Macaroni($4.49) for the toddlers. All meals will stay under $14.99 a person.
