PARK/LAND REPARATIONS
Are you wondering what's new at Disneyland or Disney's California Adventure? We are here to keep you updated on the latest changes made around the parks!
Disneyland!
Disneyland currently shut down Tarzan's Treehouse for the retheming of the classic attraction. Originally opened as Swiss Family Robinson's Treehouse in 1962, it was rethemed after the animated movie Tarzan in 1999, shortly before the movie was released. We do not currently know what the attraction will be rethemed.
Another attraction soon to be rethemed is Splash Mountain in Critter Country. Originally modeled after the 1946 film Song of the South, the attraction is based on the journey of the Brer Rabbit, main character of the stories told in the film. The film became associated negatively in terms of black history and in recent years, it was decided that the attraction is in poor taste. Instead, the ride will be themed after Tiana's true love kiss. After the end of the animated film, they celebrate Mardi-Gras style in the Bayou and we get to come along for the ride. This new attraction is slated to open by late 2024, but there is no date set for the closure of the current attraction.
Disney's California Adventure!
The Pacific Wharf is in its final days. This area of the park was modeled after an old California cannery, similar to Monterrey Bay in California. One of the few remaining not rethemed from the original park opening, it will soon be the home of Hero Himata and Baymax, San Fransokyo, the alternate reality of San Francisco in California.
