Avengers Assemble! Visiting the new addition to the Resort

Updated: Jul 21, 2021

M and I took a trip to see the newly opened Avengers Campus. As indicated by Twitter, we had a pretty long morning.

Our aim was to get to Avengers Campus as quickly as possible. There was already a line to get into the land 30 minutes before the official park opening. We attempted to get Web Slinger boarding passes at 7am but they were gone in literal seconds. When we were, what we thought, was about an hour away from getting in the land, we went to order food. We were disappointed to find that there was no availability at Pym Kitchen, which we were really looking forward to having. After nearly 4 hours waiting, we finally got to enter the coveted Avengers Campus.

I made M stop to take official photos because after all the time waiting, I wanted something to show for it. At 12pm, I tried again for boarding passes and I was successful! At first we just made a pass through. Taking it in, getting a feel for the ambiance. It definitely was immersive, and it definitely felt like the Avengers were here.

Making our way through the crowds, we headed straight for Mission: Breakout. M and I had yet to experience it. We loved Tower of Terror, and we were sure we would enjoy the adaptation.

Naturally, we loved it. We perused the gift shop and these are the highlights:

Afterwards, we took off to wait for our Web Slinger boarding group and get some lunch. Our boarding passes put us in the queue around 2 and we were sweltering in the Anaheim heat. I caught these pictures in the outdoor queue.

The ride is actually really fun and an excellent arm workout. You fling your arms like Spiderman and the aim is super accurate. It is much like Toy Story Midway Mania, but I thought this one was more fun. Afterwards, your arms feel like jello but you are pumped. We went into the Web Suppliers but didn't really find anything of interest. Mostly it's accessories for the attraction we were just on.

What we were really excited for was coming back after dark.

The Campus came alive at night. It was something to behold. All in all, we give the Campus a thumbs up on presentation: the ambiance, the decor, the flow... it was awesome. We liked both attractions more than we thought we would. We didn't get a chance to sample the dining so we can't comment on that. We didn't get a chance to see the Dr Strange show, which was fine with us because we have yet to watch his film. We caught a little bit of it but came in late and left early. We did, however, see a whole bunch of characters.

We also saw Black Panther, Black Widow and Loki in his TVA attire, but we did not get good shots of those characters. Overall, an awesome experience. Not sure it was worth the 4 hours in line but it was definitely something you had to see.
