Disneyland has always been a place of constant change, constant movement towards the future. Despite the alarming and horrific setback that was the COVID-19 pandemic, we can now see Disney ramping back up to speed. As more Cast Members are coming back to work, we see an ever increasing number of attractions and dining experiences returning. With the sun turning up the heat, we are glad to have Grizzly River Run back in action. And the reopening of the Matterhorn is a thrill to coaster lovers everywhere. The Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes are crossing the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer's Island is once again recruiting new Pirate Pals. The Columbia is sailing the high seas again, although not yet taking on passengers.
The renovated Jungle Cruise is set to reopen July 16th, and there is a potential for a front of the line experience. D23 Gold members are offered an exclusive early arrival on the day of reopening for unique experience. After entering the gates at 5:30am, guests will receive their own skipper hat and VIP credential. Starting the adventure at the Tropical Hideaway, there will be morning treats to enjoy. There will be a panel of creative talent from Walt Disney Imagineering to take them on an emotional ride of the attraction's history and legacy, all to celebrate the 66th anniversary! Then they will be the first ones to experience the new and improved world-famous Jungle Cruise. The tickets went on sale this morning at 10am and will cost a whopping $75 per person(+$7 for processing) But will include all these commemorative gifts and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The fireworks are once again lighting the Anaheim sky, and we now have the news of Disneyland bringing back not only Halloween decor but the Oogie Boogie Bash is on! Select nights between September 9 and October 31, the park will be shut down early for some spooky Halloween fun. A limited ticket event that not only allows you to dress up and be in the park after hours, but will offer you photo opportunities with villains and other characters in their Halloween best, a special Halloween themed parade as well as other shows, and, of course, trick or treating!! Don't miss this limited time, limited ticket event that will be a spooktacular worth remembering! Tickets go on sale July 13th, 9am, and they go fast so do not wait!
Speaking of remembering, for the holiday, Paradise Gardens will be transformed into Plaza de la Familia, featuring food, crafts, and entertainment inspired by the beloved Disney/Pixar film "Coco". Come and celebrate Dia de los Muertos with beloved characters and the iconic Arbol de la Vida(Tree of Life). There is no better way to celebrate the importance of family than to come and immerse yourself in the art exhibit, mariachi music and the hand-animated figure of Miguel. (You do not need to attend Oogie Boogie Bash for this experience.)
Some other fun Halloween experiences offered by Disneyland Resort this year include the return of the Haunted Mansion Holiday, where Jack Skellington takes over the Mansion! This fun homage to the Tim Burton film "The Nightmare Before Christmas" offers a unique ride experience that can lessen the scare factor for some of the younger kids. A special fireworks show will be presented for the immersive delight of the Main Street Pumpkin Festival, including projections and special effects. Normally Space Mountain will roll out its Halloween version of but it is not specified if we will have that this year. Over in Disney California Adventure, they are featuring the Halloween transformation of Mater's Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi's Rolickin' Roadsters, as well as the Guardians of the Galaxy - Monsters After Dark. And do not miss the 10-foot-tall Headless Horseman!
Some other things happening in the realm of Disney are the releases of new movies and shows. Black Widow is a huge success bringing in $13.2 million in Thursday night previews at the domestic box office. Monsters At Work has released its first two episodes. Just so you know - Mike and Sully are in it but in a lesser role. It seems to focus on this young Scarer who just found out Monster's Inc no longer hires Scarers, following this monster on his journey to find out where he belongs. The season finale of Loki has hit fans hard. Time marches on for other Disney originals.
Focus on Florida:
The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival will be kicking off on July 15th, and running through November 20th, and you are invited to be the guest of more than 20 festival-exclusive global marketplaces. There are 7 new marketplaces coming to the festival. The Noodle Exchange, Tangierine Cafe: Flavors of the Medina, The Rotunda Bistro, The Swanky Saucy Swine, Brew-Wing at the EPCOT Experience, Lobster Landing, and Mac & Eats. In addition to the delicious food options "around the world", there will be live entertainment at the Canada Mill Stage and the American Gardens Theatre.
The capacity limits continue to increase on the East Coast and tickets are easier to come by for both single tickets and annual passholders. Much to the dismay of the regular attendees, the Disney Parks Pass System is going to be in place into the foreseeable future. It will have little effect on the average day to day visits to WDW, and will make the holidays and special events more manageable.
We have finally announced all the hotels reopening dates, meaning that by December 9, 2021, all Walt Disney World hotels will be open. Non DVC hotels will be phased reopening with another hotel opening just about every month, after tomorrow's three hotel opening.
That's all I have for you now. Thanks for reading and as always, see you in the parks!
