Out of State Visitors??

Disneyland fans across California are up in arms about the change in state guidelines. California state guidelines finally allowed the theme parks availability to safely reopen for the first time in more than a year. With this, came the restriction that only California state residents could in fact attend the parks. Californians have been waiting for this moment, and they were thrilled to have first hash at their local theme parks with reduced capacity and California residents only.

Earlier this week, those guidelines were updated to allow fully vaccinated out-of-state visitors to attend theme parks and special events previously only permitted for California residents. A statement from the California Attractions & Parks Association(CAPA) said, "Amusement parks' responsible reopening plans are guided by the state's Blueprint for a Safer Economy which was recently update with an Addendum to Blueprint Activity and Business Tiers. This addendum now allows fully vaccinated persons from out-of-state to visit or attend activities or events that were previously restricted to in-state visitors. As vaccinations become more widespread and state guidance evolves, individual parks may update their own responsible reopening plans in accordance with state and local public health regulations." However, a debacle with SeaWorld San Diego brought to life the awkward between phase and caused leaders to speak out.

In a tweet on April 20th from Joe Kleiman (@ThemedReality), he showed the awkward jargon that told him that "attendance is limited to California in-state visitors, and now out-of-state visitors will be required to show proof of a completed COVID-19 vaccine or a negative test for COVID-19 within 72 hours of their park visit" and right below this said "Per state COVID-19 restrictions, attendance is limited to California in-state visitors only... By purchasing admission to visit the park on or after April 12, you are confirming that you and your party size will not contain more than 3 households and that all guests are California in-state visitors." And similarly, Carlye Wisel (@carlyewisel) brought to attention a response to a tweet by SeaWorld San Diego that read, "The theme park guidelines have been updated. Starting today, April 16, we are able to welcome out of state visitors with confirmation of their completed COVID-19 vaccination card OR confirmation of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of their visit to the park."

Scott Gustin (@ScottGustin) responded with an update from SeaWorld San Diego, showing that it now says, "Per state COVID-19 restrictions, attendance is now limited to California in-state visitors and now, out of state visitors will be required to show proof of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccine(you are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after your second shot, or two weeks after your one-dose vaccine)."

So where does that leave our beloved Disneyland, set to reopen in just 2 weeks? Laughing Place reached out to the Disneyland Resort for answers. The resort responded that they will not be opening to out-of-state guests, continuing to allow entry to California residents only once the parks reopen on Friday, April 30, 2021. On the Disneyland website, under Disneyland Resort Phased Reopening and Important Information, it says clearly, "Until further notice, only California residents may visit the parks, and in groups no larger than 3 households, per state guidelines."

Long story short, we are safe. For now. Disneyland has not given any time frame to when they will allow out-of-state visitors. Thanks for reading and as always, keep tuned in as we follow breaking stories.
