Pandemic Disneyland Updates

OC Register confirmed that Disney's California Adventure will debut the Avengers Campus in 2021. While the original opening date was July 18, 2020, the land had been postponed indefinitely due to the park closures and COVID-19. This will still be a phased opening like Galaxy's Edge: the first phase will include the Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure, a stage show featuring Doctor Strange, Pym's Test Kitchen, as well as character meet and greet opportunities.

Web Slingers is a new dark ride that will use recognition technology to track body and eye movement, allowing for a truly interactive opportunity to be just like Spider-Man.

Doctor Strange is hosting a show designed around special effects and projections that focuses on the ruins of his Santum Sanctorum.

Pym's Test Kitchen gives you some insight into the worlds of Ant-Man and the Wasp. The new restaurant will feature food items that have been shrunk or expanded in size. It will also feature an outdoor cocktail bar.

Characters that will be available include Iron Man, Black Widow, Black Panther, Thor, and Captain Marvel.

Milestones Missed:

Galaxy's Edge celebrated its first anniversary of being open on May 31, 2020.

Disneyland planned to reopen July 17, 2020 for the 65th anniversary of the park's opening.

Coming in February is the 20th anniversary of Disney's California Adventure and the Downtown Disney District.

Project Stardust

Inside the Magic has updated us on some of the projects that Disneyland has been working on. One of which is a beautiful restoration to the beloved Partners statue, which has oxidized over time in the elements. Tomorrowland has received some attention in the way of the refurbishment of the entrance to the themed land. It is meant to pay homage to the entrances of yesterday. Frontierland also recieved an update that involves widening the bridge and replacing the 15-foot-tall wooden gates as well as the 16-foot-long marquee.

Currently there is no update on what we can expect from Disney. Downtown Disney is only offering take-out at restaurants and only select retail locations are open, if they can follow social distancing standards.
