A lot is happening at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. As we gear up for the holiday season, Disney is tweaking the guest experiences.
The Disneyland Annual Passholder Program was retired, for reason of being “out of control”. The new program, however is not much different, except for the requirement to make park reservations. For more information about the new Magic Keybolder Program that Disney is rolling out, check out our article: https://mouseearsnews.wixsite.com/mouseearsnews/post/who-s-ready-to-hold-the-keys
The only update I have about the coming Key Holder Program is that Californian residents are offered a monthly payment plan, following a down payment of $179. The following would be the monthly payment:
Dream Key: $102
Believe Key: $65
Enchant Key: $40
Imagine Key: $19
And for the 66 days following the August 25th release date, you can recieve a special charter member gift, including a Magic Key Holder pin.
We have heard the implementation of the Premier Pass program at Disneyland Paris and Shanghai Disneyland. Regrettably, the plan is to make this a standard in the parks, coming soon to Disneyland. For those of you who don’t know, the Premier Pass program is one to access Fast Passes from your Disneyland app on your phone. The cost per ride is somewhere between $9-$16, although the price will not be sorted until a later date and time.
Another park update is that park hopping will remain the way it is for the foreseeable future. There are no plans to change the 1pm rule, even stating that Key Holders will have to abide by these restrictions.
On a slightly happier note, our favorite Haunted Mansion is celebrating another milestone. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay! Starting Sept 3rd, join Jack Skellington as he takes over the Haunted Mansion and Christmas. Make sure to pick up the ghoul new merchandise to commemorate this Happy Haunting Holiday starting September 27th!
Oogie Boogie Bash is right around the bend, bringing tricks and treats galore. Unfortunately the Villainous World of Color performance will not be gracing up with its frights this season, due to necessary refurbishment to the long under-used equipment. However, there will be a spooktacular Frightfully Fun Parade twice each night and the Villians Grove will have you begging for treats and not tricks! Across the Esplanade will be the Halloween Screams fireworks show. For more information about the Oogie Boogie Boogie Bash or Halloween in Disneyland, check out our article here: https://mouseearsnews.wixsite.com/mouseearsnews/post/new-and-exciting-things or Disneyland’s website: https://disneyland.disney.go.com/events-tours/disney-california-adventure/oogie-boogie-bash-hallowee
In addition to the already spectacular food and drink options available in DCA, there are two dining packages available for this special ticketed event. Wine Country Trattoria is offering a 3-course prix-fixe dinner option that will give you reserved access to watch the Frightfully Fun parade. Prices for this experience will run $55 for adults and $40 for children, with an exclusive Oogie Boogie Popcorn Bucket for the kiddos. There are two times available: 7pm and 9:30pm but advance reservations are not available. On the date of your Bash, simply go to the restaurant and ask to upgrade to this experience. The second pontoon is at the Sonoma Terrace, which is offering a dessert buffet for $84 a head. You will have access to a selection of Halloween treats and beverages. You will also receive reserved seating for the Frightfully Fun parade. This is available 30 minutes before each parade, advance reservations highly recommended.
Reopening is always exciting news as Disneyland transforms back to normal standards. we have two dining experiences returning to the resort:
More Character Dining options are coming in the form of Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures at the Napa Rose in the Grand Californian Hotel. These unique dining experience is returning August 26th and will cost you $125. You have a three course breakfast, princess-themed activities and of course, princesses to hang out with and take pictures with.
The famous Carnation Cafe will be returning on September 16th. Enjoy some of Walt’s favorite dishes under those infamous striped umbrellas as you watch the passersby on Main Street USA!
Over in DCA, the Bakery Tour is back during select times! From 8am to 3pm, you can watch a Boudin Bakery in action and sample some of their delicious product.
And now for the news no one likes to receive: the scheduled season closures.
Haunted Mansion will be closed between August 16 and September 2 while it gets its famous Halloween-Christmas overlay.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closed from September 7th into the Autumn season.
Sailing Ship Columbia will be closed beginning September 13th and has no projected return date. It may be retiring for the off-season.
Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage is undergoing maintenance and is scheduled to open in or after the Winter season.
Toontown is a ghost town as the land primarily relies on the character meet and greet houses, which are currently unavailable. You can catch Mickey and his friends hanging out in front of their houses for socially distanced photos. There is currently no dining options in the land.
The fan-favorite Monorail is not slated to return anytime soon.
The Star Wars Launch Bay is currently unavailable but expected to return soon.
The nighttime entertainment show in DCA, World of Color, is currently undergoing extensive renovations. after sitting stagnant in the bay, the equipment has taken a hit. The show is not expected to return until sometime in 2022.
Speaking of entertainment, there have been talks about bringing Disneyland its own special-ticketed Christmas time event. How awesome would that be!! Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻
